Made in Greece, Axia is the first ever mastic distillation, made from mastic resin & a neutral grain spirit
METHOD
The mastiha resin is macerated and then double distilled in copper Alembic stills. Rested in stainless steel for 3 weeks its then diluted with natural spring water. No added flavours, aromas or sweeteners
TASTE & AROMA
A whole forest of aromas on the nose, brightened by more delicate scents of fresh cut grass, rose water and dried orange peels. On the palate, earthy pine and cedar are balanced with velvety bergamot, cypress and citrus notes. Finishing with light peppery, horseradish notes.

WHAT IS AXIA MASTIHA?
Axia is an elegant, low-sugar spirit distilled from the aromatic resin of the Mastiha tree, a gnarled and twisted evergreen found clutching to the hillsides of Chios, Greece. Revered for its natural flavour and beauty, this resin has incited jealousy and warfare. It’s even been used as a snakebite anti-venom - a potent elixir from which our spirit has been inspired.
Today, through the art of our master distiller and her team, Axia keeps the unique characteristics of Mastiha, but with additional velvety flavour notes of bergamot and cypress, and a fragrant rose aroma. It is a refreshing, extra-dry spirit that takes the millennia-old rules of Mastiha-making, and artfully twists them.
Through millennia-old, sustainable farming techniques that continue to employ entire local villages, the trees are harvested twice a year. The bark is sliced and the sap milked and left to dry in the wind as crystal ’tear drops’. These crystals are collected, cleaned by hand and shipped to the nearby Plomari distillery. They are mixed with alcohol and twice distilled in a process that brings together traditional hand-crafted copper stills with the cutting-edge science of the master distiller, Maroussa Tsachaki.
The result is a premium, dry, unsweetened white spirit with only 0.5% sugar. Whats more, its calorie is count is similar to that of Tequila, and considerably lower than other spirits.
