ABOUT
Skipper Rum is a small, independently-owned brand that has been in existence since 1930. Skipper's origins lie in a long tradition connecting the British Navy, Scotland and Demerara rum. Much of the original distilling expertise came from Scotland and indeed the whisky barrels, which came from Bourbon initially, were used for maturing Scotch and then sent to Guyana for rum.
METHOD
Skipper Rum is made from locally sourced sugar cane molasses, following the traditional methods of distilling and maturing of the Diamond distillery and is matured for three to four years in old whisky casks.
TASTE & AROMA
A rounded, ripe tropical fruit nose of papaya, guava, mango, and caramelised pineapple, balanced by a hint of peppery spice. On the pallette, enticing flavours of sun-dried tropical fruit notes overlayed with a smooth butterscotch and salted caramel base. This rum is well-balanced and structured to be a very sophisticated tropical dark rum.
RECOMMENDED SERVES
Pour 50ml Skipper Tropical over ice, top with Fig Leaf soda and a qeeze of fresh lime
